THE EFFECT OF YOGA ON CANCER

Several studies have shown that yoga improves the quality of life of cancer patients and survivors by reducing stress, improving sleep quality and boosting mood.

Yoga is an ancient Indian philosophy that has been practised for thousands of years and aims to achieve physical and emotional health through controlled breathing, postural movement and meditation. Yoga has been shown to reduce the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome, asthma, various seizures, diabetes, migraine headaches, AIDS, depression and to help maintain weight.

In addition to hospital treatment, almost all cancer patients want to "do something themselves" to get better. Cancer patients and survivors have reported better sleep, less stress and an overall improvement in quality of life while practising yoga.

The correct technique can be learnt with the help of a qualified instructor experienced in teaching cancer patients.

IMPORTANT! Cancer patients interested in yoga should consult their doctor first, as certain anti-cancer treatments may cause physical limitations.

Areas of application of yoga:

* Sleep quality: yoga has been shown in some studies to improve overall sleep quality.

* Stress: several studies support the use of yoga to reduce stress.

* Pain: several studies have reported on the pain-reducing effects of yoga.

* Depression: several studies have found a link between yoga and a reduction in depression, resulting in a positive mood.
